10 days traveling in Iceland in early October…
As I’ve said in my workshops, haiku photos are only one sort of photographic poetic form, and both landscapes and portraits are (almost) impossible to execute in a haiku form; but both are still improved generally by considering all the objectives in haiku—of unusual simplicity, of compositional formalities, of exploring the mystery and discovery, of not being too overt or obvious… all these attributes are fun to explore, even if the photo doesn’t end up a “haiku.” Of these few dozen favorites from my trip, only a couple strike me as proper haiku photos.
